Amarillo City Federal Credit Union was organized on March 12, 1948, as a better banking alternative for City of Amarillo employees. At year-end of 1948, the Credit Union had 240 members, assets of $9,195 and loans of $6,258. The Credit Union originally operated out of a desk drawer in the city auditorium, and continued to operate from office space in the auditorium until January of 1967. In 1967, the Credit Union relocated to the new city municipal facilities, then moved in the summer of 1972 to its current location at 9th and Lincoln.
Through the years, the Credit Union has continued to grow responsibly in assets, loans, services and technology. While we are still committed to serving the financial needs of city employees, we have expanded our field of membership to include many Select Employee Groups. These are employees who partner with the Credit Union so that their employees may join and open accounts.
